The contours of your face contribute much to your facial beauty. In particular, the shape and prominence of your cheeks may make you look more or less attractive. Cheek augmentation will add volume to your cheeks to improve their definition and create soft, smooth facial contours that enhance your natural appearance.

The Best Candidates

  • Have poorly defined cheeks due to genetics
  • Have lost cheek volume or prominence due to aging
  • Are non-smokers
  • Are physically healthy
  • Have a positive outlook
  • Have realistic goals and expectations
  • May have unwanted fat somewhere on their bodies that can be used for fat transfer

The Procedure

There are multiple ways Dr. Clark performs cheek augmentations depending on the severity of the need, the associated other facial problems, and the desires of the patient. The simplest and least expensive method is with fillers such as injectable products. Somewhat more involved yet probably longer lasting is fat injections. For this technique, Dr. Clark will first harvest fat from one area of your body where it is not wanted, such as the abdomen or thighs. Next, he will purify the fat cells to prepare them for reinjection into your cheeks. Finally, he will inject the purified fat cells directly into your cheeks to add natural-looking definition. The whole procedure takes approximately one to two hours and can significantly enhance the appearance of your cheeks. Probably the most efficacious technique for cheek augmentation is with a silicone implant surgically placed through the mouth. Whenever Dr. Clark does a facelift, he also augments the cheek with lifting of the hanging fat to restore the “apple cheek of youth.”

Recovery and Results

Injectable filler treatment does not require any downtime and provides results that are almost immediately visible. After cheek augmentation with implants or fat grafting, patients may experience some swelling and bruising. Cold packs and medications can help to minimize any swelling, bruising, and discomfort, all of which will subside within one week to one month. Patients are typically able to return to work by two weeks after the procedure.

Cheek augmentation with injectable fillers will require repeat treatments every six months to one year to maintain the results. The effects of fat injections for cheek augmentation are long lasting to permanent, and the results look very natural. Cheek augmentation with implants will provide permanent results. No matter the technique, this procedure will give you more defined and well-sculpted cheeks that add shape, definition, and beauty to your face.
